My Story
For the past 25 years, I have worked in various roles as a software engineer. Initially, it was mostly website and web application development using PHP and some other languages. In the last 10 years, my projects have been about 50/50 web and mobile apps, with some Smart TV Platforms mixed in.
Since the pandemic began in 2020, I have been mostly working on Freelance projects. To date, I've finished more than 29 jobs and billed over 4,800 hours on various platforms. This work has been in various areas from web backend, to full-stack, and mobile application development. During this time, I have also worked on several tvOS, AndroidTV, and FireTV projects.
Business Background
In 2003, I founded my first company, a website-building company called ImagineYouOnline. It was primarily small projects as I got started in the business and my first consulting gigs.
In 2006, I co-founded Simicomm, a hosted multi-tenant VoIP service. Although the company didn't take off, the experience allowed me to work with significant investors and sit with a board of directors, learn from a seasoned CEO and Director of Marketing, and work in a fast-paced technology startup. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
A few years later in 2009, I was back in the digital agency space with a new company called Fall Web Concepts, which I later renamed to Serial Coders. The company eventually employed a team of 5 full-time employees in professional areas such as design, development, content marketing, and project management. We built the company until 2017, and to date, this has been my longest-running company.
In 2019, I formed another agency company, CML Web Services which was renamed later to Artisan Code Craft. During the pandemic, I did my freelance work under one of these companies up until the beginning of 2023 when many companies were laying off technology workers and freelancers.

What am I doing now?
Well, 2023 was a tough year with all the tech layoffs. A lot of the freelance sites that have given me many rewarding projects have become marketplaces giving projects to the lowest bidder. The new AI tools have reduced the need for staffing, and have even had an impact on the Software labor field because with new tooling and features, software engineers can be 5x more productive than before.
Of course, I have been following the AI-technology tends and learning to use LLMs (Local Language Models), OpenAI, Gemini, Grok and all the other new products and services in this space. As a hobby, I've recreated Jarvis from the Marvel movies to the point I can with current software technology and what I can afford in my home lab. This AI assistant helps manage my time, my social media, content strategies and workload.
Also, I launched this new website and will soon be releasing an online learning platform and community for those who wish to learn about what I know in Software Engineering, AI and the Technology Startup space. Be sure to subscribe on Social Media, I will have some announcements about this soon.
